The CMS50QA Pediatric Finger Pulse Oximeter was designed from the ground up to be suitable for children. From the designers of the popular adult finger pulse oximeters CMS 50B and 50E comes the latest offering from Contec Medical Systems. These specially designed oximeters detect both pulse rate and blood oxygen saturation level (SPO2).
The CMS50QA manufacturing uses a small-footprint process that includes a new software algorithm and sensor made with the physical parameters for children. The calibrated sensor measures the thinner skin surface of children, whose skin could be as little as 0.3 inches (8mm). This monitor is recommended for use on children ages 2 to 13, with a minimum body weight of 35 lbs (16 kg). The bright LCD allows for easy viewing with high contrast.

The most innovative feature of this product is its built-in heartbeat tracker. This auditory blip helps keep track of heartbeat measurements without requiring the user to look at the display visually. Also included is an audio alarm that would detect when heart rate or SpO2 exceeds a preset specification.

The blood oxygen monitor opening where users insert their finger is miniaturized and suited for pediatric care or pediatric nursing. This child-sized sensor also helps prevent ambient light from entering the orifice that could cause inaccuracies in the reading.
